A rule set is a named group of [auto-switch rules](/extension/auto-switch-rules). Turning a set off removes its rules from routing while leaving them in place, so you can keep a working configuration you only need some of the time. Sets are managed from the panel at the top of the Rules page. ## How a disabled set behaves Rules in a disabled set are skipped entirely during matching. They are not deleted, their order is preserved, and turning the set back on restores them exactly as they were. A rule that belongs to no set is always active. Assign a rule to a set with the set selector on its row. ## Typical uses * A **Work** set holding the rules for internal hosts, off outside working hours. * A **Testing** set that routes a staging domain through a specific proxy, on only while you are testing. * A **Region** set per country, with one enabled at a time. ## Deleting a set Deleting a set does not delete its rules. They become ungrouped and therefore active again. If you meant to stop them routing, disable them individually or move them to another set first. Because a disabled set changes which rules route, toggling one re-applies the proxy configuration immediately. On Chrome and Edge the PAC script is recompiled; on Firefox the next request picks up the change.
